FAREWELL 2011

2011 is now over and admittedly, I wish I could have done more this year. My slow adjustment to life here in the Philippines has held me back on shooting and I’m hoping that will change with this new year.

Here’s a quick look back at some of my favorite shots and moments of 2011. Lots of friends, lots of shoes, lots of food, lots of memories.

Going for a walk with my grandma. This is probably one my favorite shots of the year.

VILLA ESCUDERO

Took a little family trip (the first in over 4 years) to Villa Escudero Resort in San Pablo, Laguna. We got to ride a carabao (water buffalo) carriage while being serenaded, go to ride a bamboo raft, had a delicious buffet lunch at the bottom of a waterfall with our feet under water, and watched an impressive cultural show performed by the staff themselves. It was a pretty awesome day with the fam.

NEW TOY + COMING SOON

I’ve always wanted a full manual SLR, and now I finally have one! The beautiful Nikon FM along with a Nikkor 50mm f/2 AI-S has now joined my family of Canon gear. The body is fully operational except for the built-in light meter, which is no longer accurate, so I’ll be forced to shoot with the ‘Sunny 16′ rule. Time to pop in some film and start shooting!

COMING SOON: My portfolio website is still under construction (sigh!) but I’m really hoping to get it done before the end of the year. Also, I’m planning to create a separate personal blog for more ‘everyday’ photos. Once both are up and running, I’ll hopefully be shooting and posting material more frequently, so stay tuned!

It’s super late but I’m finally putting it up. The mini shoot with my ading Michelle and her boyfriend Artie. Since I didn’t really get to give her a gift before I left, this post is for you. Although we aren’t official kuya and ading on paper, we definitely are one. I’m going to miss you so much. Thank you for your amazing gift. You definitely know what I love…Pizza Planet aliens from Toy Story! Although I’ll be half way around the world, I’ll always be there for you. Take care.

When I went to pick up my friend Tricia at her sister’s place, I got a chance to hang out with her adorable little nephew, Augustine aka ‘Auggie.’ This kid has such a cute and contagious smile. I couldn’t help but feel giggly while working on these photos.

Oh, and I’d like to say congratulations to his mom Sharon, who will soon be bringing home a new baby brother for Auggie to play with!
